Senior Financial Controller (part-time)
Manchester, North West
6 month FTC with intention to extend
Annual salary £60,000 pro-rata

The company
Our client is an exciting technology based start-up company in Manchester who are at the forefront of disruptive innovation, and who have a particular focus on pioneering new technologies. They are a forward-thinking company with a clear vision of how the future should be when it comes to computer software.

The role
This is a group level role and the Senior Financial Controller will report to the Board. The role will exist primarily to enable sustainable growth of the company by:
* Planning the company's financial strategy to investigate and safeguard the finances of the company
* Driving the financial planning, undertaking risk assessment and mitigation with a focus on investments and liabilities, managing cash and liquidity risks
* Being knowledgeable about and actively participating in discussions on EIS, EMI, strategic funding opportunities
* Ensuring Exec accountability and controls on finances

Key responsibilities
* Drive the company's financial planning
* Risk management and mitigation, and reporting
* Decide on investment strategies by considering cash and liquidity risks
* Evaluate the company's fundraising plans and capital structure
* Ensure cash flow is appropriate for the company's operations
* Manage vendor relationships
* Prepare reliable current and forecasting reports
* Oversee the finance-IT system
* Ensure compliance with the law and company's policies

The ideal candidate

Technical skills:
* Well-versed in all aspects of financial management ranging from simple accounting to broad investment and banking operations
* Deep knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management practices
* Experience and knowledge of forecasting and data analysis
* Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software (Sage)

Leadership and other business skills and experience:
* Leadership in this role is essential as the company is growing and the complexity will only grow from here; the role also requires interface with the Board and the Exec team including holding everyone accountable to ensure the company's financial health
* Strategic thinking with a strong analytical mind, and comfort with numbers and spreadsheets
* Good communication skills across levels of seniority
* Prior experience in a technology research and software / SaaS company ideal
* Experience working for start-ups would be an advantage

Qualifications:
* BSc / BA in accounting, CPA strong advantage
