Job Description

Vitae are currently working exclusively with a top construction company in Hertfordshire to source a purchase ledger clerk to join their team. This role has come about due to company growth and would suit an individual with at least 2 years purchase ledger experience who would be able to come in and hit the ground running.

The Role
* Fast and accurate entry of large volumes of supplier invoices
* Verification of invoices including price and quantity checks
* Collation of all relevant backup documentation and approvals including ensuring costs have been charged on to customers where appropriate
* Preparing reports to monitor open purchase orders and following up with colleagues across the business
* Resolving queries with department managers
* Pro-active management of selected supplier accounts
* Negotiating credits where needed, challenging incorrect invoices and raising queries
* Resolving queries with suppliers and internal contacts
* Reconciliation of supplier accounts to statement
* Preparation of supplier payments within deadlines
* Filing and other administrative duties to support the Purchase Ledger Team Requirements
* Previous Purchase Ledger / Data entry experience in a high volume environment
* Use of MS Office programs - excel, word, outlook
* The ability to work on own initiative and under pressure, with efficiency and accuracy
* A personable individual with excellent administration and organisation skills
* Confident, possessing an excellent telephone manner with clear and concise communication

Excellent communication and organisational skills will be essential for this role as this is working as part of a lively, fast-paced finance team. On the job training will be provided but candidates will be expected to already have a working knowledge of accounts payable. A background working in the construction industry would be preferred but is not essential.
