Accounts Payable Clerk
£12 - £14 per hour
St Albans

Our client, a market leading business with an impressive customer base, is looking to source a top calibre, highly motivated and confident Accounts Payable Clerk to join its talented team. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated AP professional to join an organisation that can provide a highly enjoyable working environment. This is an initial 2 - 3 month position, will the potential to be extended or become permanent, should you prove to be a valued addition to the team.

Main duties include:
* Responsible for the accurate inputting and coding of purchase invoices and credit notes
* Ensure timely authorisation of invoices by relevant department heads for processing
* Maintain an accurate daily log of all invoices out to the business for authorisation
* Ensure invoices are paid in accordance with agreed supplier terms
* Assist with the collation and review of payment proposals and ensure remittance advices are sent to suppliers
* Assist in the processing of company credit card returns, ensuring VAT is correctly accounted for
* Posting Journals
* Reconciling supplier accounts
* Develop strong relationships and networks with both internal and external stakeholders
* Assist the Accounts Payable Manager with all month-end procedures to ensure that agreed timescales are achieved.

The role will report to the Accounts Payable Manager and will be pivotal in developing strong working relationships with key stakeholders, as well as maintaining accurate supplier accounts. Sage experience is highly desired, along with strong working knowledge of debits and credits.

The successful candidate will have similar experience ideally gleaned from a multi-site environment, most likely from the Retail/Leisure/Hospitality sector. You must have a proven track record dealing with a high volume of invoices and ensuring that a high standard of work is consistently adhered to. You must also be able to demonstrate strong working knowledge of Excel.

From an interpersonal perspective, you will be highly self-motivated and be able to work on your own initiative, but also effectively as part of a team. You must have exceptional attention to detail and have a naturally numeric mind-set, able to delve into the numbers to solve problems and queries where necessary. You will have impressive communication skills and be confident building sustainable professional relationships at all levels and with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external.
