Financial Controller
Watford, Hertfordshire
£65,000 - £70,000 + 10% Bonus + Benefits + 25 days Holidays

Vitae Financial Recruitment are proud to be partnering this high growth market leading retail business who have an exciting opportunity for a newly created Financial Controller role.

What will the role be doing:
*Lead and develop a team of 8 management accountants to deliver transformational change across multi-site retail operations.
*Ensure that the financial information relating to the Group is recorded and reported accurately and on time.
*Review and maintain balance sheet control to ensure predictable financial reporting.
*Build strong and trusting relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
*Provide financial expertise key reports and wider group, including developing accounting policies and practises.
*Consolidated monthly management accounts, produced and issued in line with reporting timetable.
*Monthly review of Head office P&Ls.
*All balance sheet account reconciliations produced and reviewed monthly.
*Strong and trusting relationships established with all key stakeholders, including finance team, internal Heads of Department, General Managers and internal/external auditors.
*100% compliance with all internal control procedures.
*Lead a team of 8 providing coaching, support and challenge to enable their development in line with organisational goals.
*Drive transformational change in financial reporting through streamlining systems and processes.
*Ensure that all financial reporting is timely and accurate.
*Overall Responsibility for balance sheet control, including ensuring 100% compliance of balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis.
*Support the FD on all matters relating to the provision of MI for external stakeholders such as banks and auditors.
*Understand the drivers of EBITDA including Key Performance Indicators. Communicate trends and opportunities to improve EBITDA with the Commercial finance team in a timely and proactive manner.
*Implement new control recommendations arising from internal/external audits and ensure compliance with existing policies.
*Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, effectively present ideas and turn them into practical actions. Lead initiatives on continuous improvement of financial reporting and support wider group goals and initiatives.
*Adhoc financial projects.

What we are looking for;
*Must be a Qualified Accountant CIMA, ACA or ACCA
*Must have previous leadership experience with the ability to lead teams and drive transformational change.
*Strong technical accountant with an ability to work to strict deadlines.
*Excellent communicator, building strong relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders.
*Team player with an ability to contribute to wider group goals.
*Ability to bring a commercial outlook to the role such that deliverables add value and insight to the business.
*Self starter with a strong desire for personal development.
*Applicants must live a commutable distance to Watford.
*The business currently operates a Hybrid working arrangement and it is envisaged that this will continue after COVID. Likely 3 days in the office / 2 days at home.
